The Great American State Fair – Opening Day

This is the marquee event launching America’s 250th anniversary celebration. The Great American State Fair is a once-in-a-generation World’s Fair-scale exposition spanning the entire length of the National Mall from the U.S. Capitol to the Washington Monument.

What to Experience
The fair transforms the National Mall into a modern celebration of American diversity and achievement, featuring:

State and Territory Pavilions: All 56 states and territories showcase their unique culture, traditions, innovations, and cuisine

Food: From Maine lobster rolls to Hawaii’s hula performances, Texas-sized steaks to Alaska’s towering ice carvings
Trust for the National Mall

Live Entertainment: Musical performances, military ensembles, and spectacular flyovers
Family Attractions: Carnival rides including an iconic Ferris wheel, carnival games, and hands-on partner activations

Exhibits: Industry displays from businesses, innovators, and civic organizations celebrating American innovation and heritage

Daily Programming: Themed content centered on “The American Canon: Opening Day,” which celebrates the architecture, infrastructure, and culture that forged the nation into a global force

June 25 is a Thursday, so the fair operates from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM.

Admission is completely free and open to the public, though advance registration is encouraged. Entry points are located at:

12th Street at Jefferson Drive SW and Madison Drive NW
7th Street at Jefferson Drive SW and Madison Drive NW
Public transportation is strongly recommended, with easy metro access via the Smithsonian Station (Blue, Orange, Silver lines).
